Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) detectives have charged a 31-year-old man with several weapons offences following investigations into illicit firearms.
On 5 June, police executed a search warrant at a Richardson Road address and located a number of unlawful firearms, loose ammunition, and manufactured firearms.
A 31-year-old Park Avenue man has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of weapons (air-powered rifle, crossbow), and one count each of possession and distribution of blueprint material for manufacture of firearms, unlawful possession of weapons 10 or more weapons with at least 5 being category R weapons, possess tainted property, and authority required to possess explosives (fireworks).
He has been remanded in custody and due to reappear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court on 12 August.
Capricornia District Detective Inspector Luke Peachey said the seizure of these manufactured firearms demonstrates the ongoing commitment by police to removing dangerous weapons from the community.
"We will continue targeting those posing a risk to our communities and remain focused on disrupting the manufacture, possession, and sale of these illegal firearms," said Detective Inspector Peachey.
"There is no place for these types of weapons in our community, and we will continue to run operations to ensure offenders are held to account."
