A man will face court today charged with attempted murder following a domestic violence related incident near Newcastle yesterday.
About 12.20am yesterday (Tuesday 17 February 2026), police were called to a house on Cottonwood Chase, Fletcher, following reports of a domestic incident.
At the scene, police were told a man had allegedly thrown a Molotov cocktail into the home resulting in a small fire.
A subsequent altercation allegedly occurred between the man and an occupant of the home, resulting in serious wounds to the occupant.
The 53-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Police attached to Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, a 52-year-old man was arrested about 5am yesterday (Tuesday 17 February 2026) on Drovers Way in the Sydney suburb of Lindfield.
He was taken to Chatswood Police Station where he was charged with attempt murder (DV), and damage property by fire/explosive with intent to injure (DV).
He was refused bail to appear before Hornsby Local Court today (Wednesday 18 February 2026).
