Hobsons Bay businesses are set to receive a boost with the announcement of $250,000 in grant funding to support the local business centres across the city.

The program will be delivered as part of Council's Hobsons Bay Business has Heart program, a city-wide business support program assisting the local business community in its post-pandemic recovery.

Grants of up to $15,000 are available to support high impact projects that will benefit local businesses and encourage residents to shop local and support their local shopping precinct.

Hobsons Bay Business has Heart invites businesses to work together, by location or industry, to apply for a grant. In addition to the grants, businesses will have access to support, including assistance with marketing and branding, access to graphic design services and promotional opportunities as part of the Hobsons Bay Business has Heart program.

Hobsons Bay Business has Heart aims to increase local consumer confidence and encourage residents to once again shop local at one of the more than 6,000 businesses in Hobsons Bay. With retail and hospitality businesses potentially beginning to re-open from 26 October 2020, the program will promote and support local shopping strips within their local communities and bring businesses together to collaborate and help drive business recovery.

Grants will be open for applications from Monday 21 September and will remain open until funds are exhausted or until March 2021, whichever occurs sooner. The grants program will be complemented by further local initiatives to encourage safe use of local retail and hospitality precincts.
