Mornington Peninsula Shire Council is pleased with the progress that is currently being made to produce a consolidated and enforceable permit for the Peninsula Aero Club (PAC). This is anticipated to be in place in early 2020.

The aim of this initiative is to update and modernise the existing 1965, 1972 and 1991 planning permits to make the existing club permits clearer and easier for all of the community to understand.

The application is anticipated to be submitted to Council by this December and Council will undertake extensive community consultation as part of this process.

The Peninsula Aero Club has been located at the Tyabb authorised landing ground since 1965 and numerous changes have occurred since planes first started using this land. The town of Tyabb has grown significantly since the mid 60s as has the PAC itself.

Council is focussed on ensuring that the Peninsula Aero Club remains sustainable and also that the community amenity is safeguarded.

Mayor Cr David Gill said "The updated permit will ensure the appropriate use of the authorised landing ground, and help improve the amenity of residents now and in the future".

Councillor Julie Morris said "A consolidated permit will ensure a balanced, fair and sustainable co-existence between the PAC, associated businesses and the local community".
