A 49-year-old man's car was impounded today after he led police on a Hansel and Gretel style chase in Mildura today.
State Highway Patrol members were patrolling Fourteenth Street when they noticed a Holden Rodeo ute with its number plate painted over about 12.10pm.
They attempted to intercept the driver, who allegedly refused to pull over and fled the scene.
Little did he know, a tin of paint in his tray started leaking and left police with a handy white trail to follow.
They located the ute parked in the owner's driveway and the driver was located.
He was found to be driving while unlicensed and his car was impounded for 30 days.
The Mildura man is expected to be charged on summons with unlicensed driving, evading police and other traffic offences.
Two hours later State Highway Patrol members clocked a vehicle allegedly doing 105km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Sturt Highway in Merbein South.
The 41-year-old driver underwent a breath test and returned a reading of .116.
He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving, speeding and unlicensed driving.
The Merbein man will also have to explain to his mum why her Holden Rodeo ute was impounded by police for 30 days.
As part of their operation in Mildura, State Highway Patrol members so far caught five drug drivers, two drink drivers, detected 140 offences and have impounded five vehicles within three days.
Another driver found himself in trouble after Moe police detected the driver doing 154km/h in a 110km/h zone between Morwell and Moe today.
The driver was also found to be driving while disqualified.
His car was impounded for 30 days at the cost of $1185 and he is expected to be charged on summons for driving while disqualified.
Baw Baw Highway Patrol members were also left shaking their heads after they intercepted a motorcyclist travelling at 142km/h on the Bass Highway at Jam Jerrup shortly before 8am.
