A reminder for Tasmanian businesses to use Check In TAS App

Jane Howlett,Minister for Small Business

The Tasmanian Liberal Government's number one focus remains the health and safety of Tasmanians, and the use of the Check In TAS app by businesses and their patrons and customers is an important tool to help us keep on top of COVID.

We are extremely proud of how quickly Tasmanian businesses have adopted the Check In TAS app, including by embracing the QR process.

From this week, the requirement for Tasmanians to check in, via the Check in Tas app, is being phased in to new venues in Tasmania including retail premises, such as supermarkets, shopping centres and Big Box outlets, as well as accommodation premises, educational settings and aged care locations.

Details on the Check in Tas app and how to register for a QR Code can be found via the Business Tasmania website at www.business.tas.gov.au/coronavirus_information/check_in_tas_app and we expect these businesses to have the new requirement in place by 31 July.

In addition to the extended range of premises required to use the Check in Tas app, from tomorrow, people aged 16 years and older will be required to check in whenever they enter a premises, not only when they stay for longer than 15 minutes.

Workers who enter their workplace, if their workplace requires the use of Check in TAS, will only need to check in once a day.

It's important that we do everything we can to keep Tasmanians safe and this includes strengthening our ability to track and trace should a COVID-19 case be detected in Tasmania.
