A wish come true

A Starlight Wish is like a dream come true for a seriously ill child or young person. Sharing a special once-in-a-life time wish brings a family together, and is an experience that stays with them forever.

Yesterday that wish became a reality for six-year-old Jake O’Meara from Nowra, New South Wales who has spent the last week on the Gold Coast enjoying a holiday with his family courtesy of the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

In 2014 Jake was tragically involved in a serious motor vehicle incident which left him with devastating permanent injuries.

For as long as Jake can remember he’s wanted to be either a police officer or a firefighter. Whilst we can’t assist with the latter; yesterday Jake was fortunate enough to experience life as a Queensland Police Service (QPS) Tactical Flight Officer for the day.

Jake attended the Gold Coast POLAIR hanger where he experienced the magic of police aviation and was able to get up close and inspect some of the many unique systems fitted to the aircraft.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning for Jake and the QPS aircrew who were on hand to answer some of the many questions and even pose for a few photos.

The Starlight Children’s Foundation grants wishes to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families. You can read more about them here.
