Act of indecency charge, NSW

A man has been charged following investigations into an alleged act of indecency on a train in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs earlier this year, NSW Police say.

About 8.20pm on Friday 31 March 2017, a man boarded a train at Bondi Junction Railway Station before sitting near a young girl and her parents.

While sitting near the girl, the man allegedly committed an act of indecency.

The incident was reported to Sydney Trains staff, who in turn alerted police and an investigation commenced.

About 7.30am yesterday, officers from Police Transport Command’s Operation Artemis arrested a 28-year-old man at Bondi Junction Railway Station and took him to Waverley Police Station.

Police will allege that whilst at the police station the man threatened police.

He was charged with commit act of indecency, offensive behaviour, resist/hinder police, and intimidate police.

He was refused bail and appeared at Waverley Local Court yesterday, where he was granted conditional bail to appear in the same court on the Wednesday 21 June 2017.
