Mountain bike (MTB) riders from all over Australia will descend on the Macleay Valley this weekend to participate in race 5 of the Shimano MTB Grand Prix.
Labelled classic cross-country lap racing at its best, race 5 will take place at the Kalateenee MTB Trails on Sunday 27 June and will feature solo racers and relay pairs riding through the flowy and fast trails in the four and six hour events.
Please refer to any active temporary COVID-19 event rules in place – please check the event website for all the details. Competitors must sign up online. This event is tracking all participants and any non-racing spectators or supporters must register online for an event accreditation at no charge.
Kempsey Shire Mayor, Liz Campbell, is looking forward to the region hosting the event.
“It’s a pleasure to have the Shimano Mountain Bike Grand Prix come to our beautiful area. I just love that fantastic athletes from near and far are out there enjoying natural playgrounds in the Macleay such as our treasured Kalateenee Mountain Bike Trails in South Kempsey. Good luck to all of the racers!”
The Shimano MTB Grand Prix is part of a weekend double-header with another race in Port Macquarie on Saturday 26 June, with the aim to encourage regional and interstate visitors to come into the region.
