Additional charges laid after joint investigation - Southern RES and Raptor Squad

PLEASE NOTE: Kniepp is pronounced "Ka-Nipe"

Police have laid additional charges against a man as part of an ongoing joint investigation between Southern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) and Raptor Squad.

In September 2019, investigators attached to Southern RES established Strike Force Kniepp to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs and alleged criminal activities in the state's south.

Early inquiries revealed a criminal syndicate was supplying prohibited drugs – mainly cocaine, MDMA and methylamphetamine (ice) – across Sydney's Eastern Beaches, south west Sydney and the South Coast.

Subsequently, in February this year, Strike Force Gommera was established by State Crime Command's Raptor Squad to investigate the syndicate's link to Sydney-based outlaw motorcycle gangs (OMCG).

Following an extensive joint investigation, a 36-year-old man was arrested by the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU) at a carpark at Sandon Point, Bulli, on Wednesday 28 April 2021.

Shortly after, investigators from Raptor Squad and Southern Region RES executed 10 search warrants at properties at Dover Heights, Miranda, Revesby, Pyrmont, Peakhurst, Rose Bay, Taren Point and Zetland.

A further five men – aged 26, 28, 47 and two aged 31– were arrested during the operation and charged. All six remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, detectives laid additional charges against a 31-year-old Pyrmont man at Central Local Court yesterday (Monday 17 May 2021).

He was charged with an additional three counts of supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity).

It will be alleged in court that the man was involved in the supply of nearly 1.2kg of cocaine, 1kg of MDMA and 785g of methylamphetamine (ice).

The man is now facing a total of 33 charges and is next due to appear at Central Local Court on Thursday 24 June 2021.

Investigations under Strike Force Kneipp are ongoing.
