Additional murder charge laid after fatal stabbing at Wellington

A man has now been charged with murder following ongoing investigations into a fatal stabbing in the state's Western Region earlier this year.

About 7am on Sunday 3 January 2021, emergency services were called to William Street, Wellington, following reports of a physical altercation involving several people outside a home.

Shortly after, a 24-year-old man presented at Wellington Hospital with stab wounds to his stomach and neck.

He was taken to Dubbo Hospital, where he died soon after.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District established crime scenes and established Strike Force Larelar to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

A 19-year-old man was found near the scene with facial injuries and taken to Dubbo Hospital for treatment.

Upon release from hospital, he was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station, where he was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, affray and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (domestic). He remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, detectives arrested the same man at a Silverwater facility earlier today (Monday 1 February 2021).

He was charged with murder and remains in custody to appear at Dubbo Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 2 February 2020).
