AgForce welcomes new initiative to attract rural workers

AgForce supports new provisions to encourage the building of rural worker accommodation on-farm.

As everyone knows, finding workers to support harvests and other work is made worse by the low availability of affordable accommodation.

However, part B of the Queensland Rural Workers' Accommodation Initiative now allows farmers to build small scale rural workers' accommodation on-farm for a maximum of 20 workers without needing planning approval, subject to meeting certain criteria.

The Queensland Government and industry will continue to work together with local governments on longer term solutions for the sector.
