Aggravated Burglary – Elizabeth Street, North Hobart, TAS

Police have charged a 33-year-old man with Aggravated Burglary and Stealing following an incident at a North Hobart residence this morning, Tasmania Police say.

At 6:10am police were called to a report of two men having entered a private residence on Elizabeth Street, North Hobart.

The occupants of the residence had awoken to find two men stealing property from their lounge room.

A female occupant of the residence challenged the offenders and wrestled back some of the stolen property, receiving a minor hand injury during the struggle.

The two men then fled the address towards Tasma Street.

A 33-year-old man (of no fixed address) was later located and charged with Aggravated Burglary and Stealing. He will appear before Hobart Magistrates Court later today.

Police are continuing their investigations in relation to the second man, who remains outstanding.
