NT Government

21 November 2021

The Imparja Cup will draw Aboriginal cricketers to Alice Springs to celebrate cricket, country and culture from 13-18 February 2022.

The format of the 2022 tournament will be consistent with previous Imparja Cup events with teams able to nominate for the following divisions:

- Major Centres Division presented by Yeperenye Shopping Centre

- Men's Community Division presented by DXC Technology

- Women's Community Division

The Schools Cup also returns in 2022, with schools from around the Red Centre encouraged to register their interest in participating.

There will also be a Community Cricket (Level 1) coaching accreditation course on 15 February 2022.

The first Imparja Cup match was held on Australia Day in 1994 as an initiative of Shane and Mervyn Franey from Alice Springs and Ross Williams from Tennant Creek. NT Cricket came on board in 1998 to support the logistics.
