Alleged drink driver crashes into house in Townsville, QLD

Police have charged a 19-year-old man after he was allegedly more than three times the legal alcohol limit when his car crashed into a house in Townsville overnight., Queensland Police say

It will be alleged around 10.30pm the man lost control of his vehicle before mounting the footpath and crashing into a car parked in the driveway of a Roosevelt Loop residence in Mount Louisa.

The vehicle then crashed into the front of the house causing extensive damage.

The 19-year-old driver allegedly returned a positive roadside breath alcohol concentration of 0.176 per cent.

He was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, unlicensed driving and failing to comply with learner licence requirements.

The Mount Louisa man is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on July 18.
