Allens Advises KKR On Acquisition Of ProTen

Allens has advised global investment firm KKR on its acquisition of ProTen Pty Limited, one of Australia's largest agricultural infrastructure businesses, from Aware Super. The acquisition was made through KKR's Asia Pacific infrastructure fund.

ProTen develops, owns and operates farm infrastructure supporting Australia's poultry supply chain. The business operates over 700 poultry sheds across more than 60 farms throughout Australia.

Allens advised KKR on all aspects of the deal, including due diligence, regulatory considerations, deal structuring and negotiation of transaction documentation. Allens lawyers across multiple teams and offices contributed to the transaction.

'This transaction reflects the growing importance of sustainable food infrastructure and investor appetite for reliable, future-focused assets. Demand for sustainable protein and resilient food supply will continue to grow exponentially, with investor interest to follow,' said lead partner Charles Ashton.

'We're proud to have supported KKR on another strategic investment in the region, and look forward to watching this asset go from strength to strength.'

The acquisition adds to KKR's portfolio of infrastructure investments in Australia and New Zealand, including Zenith Energy, Spark Infrastructure and Queensland Airports. Allens has played a key advisory role across these transactions, underscoring the firm's deep expertise in complex infrastructure M&A.
