Ammunition found in vehicle, man charged in Lambton

A man has been charged after police located an amount of ammunition in his motor vehicle in Newcastle, NSW Police say.

About 11pm on Wednesday 30 November 2016, police spoke to a 32-year-old man who was seated in the driver’s seat of a Toyota Prado which was parked on Verullum Road, Lambton.

Police had cause to search the vehicle and during the search, they allegedly located:

- A large hunting knife

- 1 x 410 gauge shotgun bullet

- 4 x 12 gauge shotgun bullets

- 9 x 7.62 rifle bullets

- 2 x .22LR rifle bullets, and one spent .22LR bullet casing

- 1 x 22LR rifle 10 round magazine

- 1 x nikki stirling rifle scope

- 1 x pair home made nunchucks


The man was arrested and subsequently issued with a field court attendance notice for possess ammunition without a licence, acquire firearm part, possess prohibited weapon without permit and possess knife in public place.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on 12 January 2017.
