Andrews' secret Woodman correspondence remains hidden

Liberal Party Victoria

Serious questions remain surrounding the relationship between Daniel Andrews and John Woodman as the Andrews Labor Government moves to keep key correspondence hidden.

On 25 May 2022, the Legislative Council passed a motion requiring the Andrews Government to hand over all correspondence between Daniel Andrews and property developer John Woodman by 15 June 2022.

The following day, Daniel Andrews stated that there were no documents or correspondence relating to his or his government's relationship with Mr Woodman.

Despite this claim, Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes has written in response to the Legislative Council's motion stating there was not "sufficient time" to respond within the three week motion timeframe.

Further, the Attorney-General confirmed "the Government is in the process of preparing a response to the Order and will endeavour to provide a final response as soon as possible."

This failure to respond to the Legislative Council's motion follows recent confirmation Daniel Andrews was secretly grilled by Victoria's anti-corruption watchdog as part of an investigation involving Mr Woodman.

Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, David Davis said Daniel Andrews' dealings with Mr Woodman had been exposed by his own Government.

"This makes no sense. If there is no correspondence between the Premier, his office and Mr Woodman, why has the Andrews Labor Government asked for more time to produce it?"

"Daniel Andrews has had three weeks - how long does it take to produce documents that don't exist?"

"Victorians should be rightfully concerned about the clear sense of corruption surrounding the Andrews Labor Government."

"Instead of more spin, lies and cover-ups, Daniel Andrews must come clean and produce this correspondence today."
