ANMF industrial action hurting patients again

Michael Ferguson,Minister for Health

It is disappointing that the ANMF is planning industrial action in hospitals today, and I encourage them to reconsider.

We are negotiating in good faith with unions, and would hope the ANMF would do the same. While negotiations are underway, we would expect industrial action to cease, particularly action that directly impacts on patients and the delivery of essential services to Tasmanians.

It would be very disappointing if patients miss out on treatment due to industrial action and it's incumbent on the ANMF to ensure that this doesn't occur.

Claims that no formal offer has been made by the Government are entirely incorrect. The fact is, the ANMF executive have not allowed its own members to have a secret ballot on the offer.
