Another show of confidence in Tasmania's visitor economy

Will Hodgman,Premier & Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events

The Tasmanian Liberal Government welcomes plans for a $100 million redevelopment of the Hobart International Airport, which is a key gateway for the state and our booming tourism industry.

This announcement comes on the back of the recently announced Hobart City Deal that will deliver an $82.3 million investment to provide border services for international flights, when a new international passenger processing facility is built.

As a Government we have strongly supported our tourism industry and it has resulted in record visitor numbers and record spending, which is creating jobs around Tasmania.

We are also actively pursuing opportunities for an international carrier to Hobart to enable our international visitation to continue to grow.

There is no doubt it's an exciting time for Tasmanian tourism and the Government is working hard to continue growing our visitor economy sensibly and sustainably into the future.
