Another successful Open Day at Council's Animal Shelter

Townsville City Council's Animal Shelter had another successful Open Day weekend with over 35 pets finding their fur-ever homes.

20 cats and 16 dogs were given the op-paw-tunity to go home with their new families over the weekend.

Community Health and Environment Committee Chair Cr Ann-Maree Greaney said it's wonderful to have so many pets adopted during the open days.

"The open days have proven to be a big success and so far over 80 animals have found a new home from running the event over two separate weekends," Cr Greaney said.

"There is so much love and care that goes into getting these pets adoption – including having them snipped, chipped and registered for their owners.

"There are still animals searching for their right family and I'm really hoping they will find the right one soon."

The Animal Shelter is open Monday to Saturday for adoptions and the next Open Day weekend will be held on 1-2 June.
