Longtime APNA CEO Ken Griffin has announced his next role, with a move to AUSactive in October, with his final day at APNA on 3 October.
APNA is celebrating the important contribution Ken has made over his seven years as APNA CEO. Under Ken's leadership, APNA has had continued growth in membership, partnerships and influence, cementing its leadership in Australia's primary health care sector. During Ken's tenure, APNA has grown from a team of 19 to more than 60 and consistently worked to ensure nurses are visible and respected in the primary health sector.
"It's been a privilege to grow APNA's influence and impact over the last seven years. The Board and team have worked together to positively disrupt the status quo in primary health care. I'm very proud of the work we've done over the past seven years. Nursing, primary health care and Australia's health are much stronger for it," said CEO Ken Griffin.
APNA President Denise Lyons expressed her thanks for Ken's positive leadership during the pandemic and the growth of the organisation.
"Ken is relentless, combining a strategic vision and gift for relationship building in his work, and you can see the impact it's had on how APNA has grown over the last seven years.
"Ken continually encourages people to think outside the box to drive meaningful change. His contribution and leadership has made APNA the organisation it is today."
"The Board has an in-depth recruitment process well underway, and has completed shortlisting from an impressive field of leaders for the next stage of APNA's journey. We'll continue that process over the coming weeks as we work towards finding the right leader to continue driving support and advocacy for Australia's primary health care nurses."

About APNA
The Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) is the peak body and professional membership association for all nurses working outside of a hospital setting in Australia. APNA champions the role of primary health care nurses; to advance professional recognition, ensure workforce sustainability, nurture leadership in health, and optimise the role of nurses in patient-centred care.
APNA is bold, vibrant and future-focused. We reflect the views of our membership and the broader profession by bringing together nurses from across Australia to represent, advocate, promote and celebrate the achievements of nurses in primary health care.
APNA represents a significant and rapidly expanding workforce; primary health care nurses account for around one in eight of the 640,000 registered health professionals in Australia
