Appeal after armed robbery - Belmore

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Sydney's south west yesterday.

About 9.30pm (Sunday 11 April 2021), officers from Campsie Police Area Command were called to a service station on Punchbowl Road near Benaroon Road, Belmore, after reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told an unknown man, armed with a knife, entered the store and demanded cash from the employee – a 30-year-old man.

He stole cash and cigarettes, before fleeing the scene on foot down Benaroon Road. The employee was uninjured.

A search of the surrounding area was conducted, with assistance from the Dog Unit, however the man was not located. A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist police.

Detectives have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the robbery, including any possible links to a similar incident at the same location last Thursday (8 April 2021).
