Appeal after robbery at shop at Tamworth

Police are appealing for the public's assistance after a robbery at a shop in Tamworth yesterday.

About 11.15pm on Monday (27 September 2021), a man entered a shop where he allegedly approached the counter to pay for an item on Kent Street, Tamworth.

Police were told the man attempted to leave when confronted about a drink hidden in his clothing.

The shop attendant attempted to locked the man in the store before the man armed himself with a socket wrench and threatened staff before leaving on an electric scooter.

No-one was injured.

Officers from Oxley Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Police would also like to speak to a man described as being Caucasian appearance, thin build, short brown receding hair wearing a blue jacket, navy pants and a blue backpack.
