Appeal following break and enters near Albury, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance after two homes near Albury were broken into this morning, NSW Police say.

About 1.30am (Wednesday 20 December 2017), police have been told a 48-year-old man awoke to someone in his house in Box Place, Glenroy.

He confronted a man in the hallway and a struggled ensued.

The homeowner had a brick thrown at him after he followed the man downstairs, where another man was standing with an ice breaker.

The men fled after police were called.

It’s believed the men who broke into his house had stolen the 48-year-old man’s car and car keys from outside the home about 11pm on Monday 11 December 2017.

About 3.30am today, a 52-year-old woman spotted a group of men who had broken into her house in Rivergum Drive, East Albury.

The men had stolen a wallet before running towards the homeowner’s Kia Sportage SUV and fleeing in the vehicle on Mungabeerna Road.

Officers from Albury Local Area Command commenced an investigation and believe the two break and enters are linked.

Investigators wish to speak with four men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

One man has been described as 168cm tall, with a thin build, wearing a baseball cap, white shirt and long pants.

Three men were described as having thin and athletic builds.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
