Appeal for assistance, homicide investigation at , QLD

Investigations are continuing into the suspicious death of 42-year-old Donna Steele at Cooktown, who was located deceased on August 6, Queensland Police say.

The last two confirmed sighting of Ms Steele were at a Parkinson Street caravan park on Tuesday, August 2 and a Helen Street independent supermarket around 12.15pm on Wednesday, August 3.

Detectives are also seeking assistance from anyone with a dashcam travelling in the Cooktown area between August 1 and August 3 to contact them.

Also, officers are interested in anyone with CCTV cameras installed at local homes or business premises that may not have already approached police to do so.

Investigators are particularly interested in any dashcam footage recorded between August 1 (Tuesday) and August 3 (Thursday) along Poison Creek Road and Endeavour Valley Road, as well as any within the township of Cooktown itself.

Police divers are expected to commence a search of the Legget’s Crossing area of the Endeavour River on Wednesday August 9.
