Appeal for info after child approached in Belmore

Police are appealing for information after a child was approached in Belmore at the weekend, NSW Police say.

About 10am (21 August 2016), a 14-year-old boy was at a reserve on Allegra Avenue when he noticed a man sitting on a bench nearby.

The boy walked to his home on the same street, when a short time later he noticed the same man at the front door of his home, attempting to open it.

The boy called out to his father, who approached and questioned the man, who then left the scene.

Officers from Campsie Local Area Command were alerted of the incident and commenced investigations.

As inquiries into the incident continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 45 to 55 years old, 175cm tall, of slim build and with a strong unknown accent.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
