Appeal for owners following arrest of prolific jewellery burglar

Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing to the community in an effort to reunite victims of burglary with their stolen jewellery, Victoria Police say.

Detectives executed a warrant on Avocet Street on Monday 21 November and arrested a 53-year-old Doncaster East man at the premises.

Investigators allegedly recovered 70 pieces of jewellery and are now attempting to reunite them with their rightful owners.

Police have released images of some of the items and are appealing for anyone, particularly in the eastern suburbs, who may have had jewellery stolen to come forward.

Anyone who wishes to claim stolen property will need to provide proof of ownership.

A 53-year-old Doncaster East man was charged with multiple offences including burglary, theft, handle stolen good and commit indictable offence on bail and has been bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 11 January.
