Appeal for witnesses following Keysborough collision

Greater Dandenong Highway Patrol officers are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Keysborough this morning, Victoria Police say.

It is believed a silver 1998 Toyota Camry sedan was travelling south on Perry Road when it has taken a right-hand bend and lost control about 7.50am.

The vehicle crossed double lines and collided into the passenger side of a northbound Mercedes van.

A 42-year-old man, the sole occupant of Mercedes, was not injured.

The male driver of the Toyota, who is yet to be formally identified, sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

It is believed the Toyota was travelling from Noble Park shortly before the crash.

Police are still trying to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and the movements of the Toyota prior to the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the Toyota driving at any stage before the crash is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
