Appeal for witnesses following Mildura collision

Mildura Highway Patrol members are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Mildura overnight, Victoria Police say.

It is believed a teenage girl allegedly stole a car from Melrose Drive about 2am.

The car was sighted a number of times during the night around Mildura before crashing into the front yard of a house near the corner of Cureton Avenue East and Benetook Avenue about 8.50am.

Police arrested a 14-year-old girl from Mildura, 16-year-old girl from Mildura and 19-year-old man from Merbein at the scene.

A 14-year-old girl has been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, drive in a manner dangerous and theft of motor vehicle.

She is currently still in police custody.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with theft from motor vehicle, theft of motor vehicle, trespass, possess cannabis and use cannabis.

He has been bailed to appear at Mildura Magistrates’ Court on 21 December.

A 16-year-old girl has been charged with theft from motor vehicle, theft of motor vehicle, trespass, possess cannabis and use cannabis.

She has been bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who saw a car being driven erratically prior to the collision to contact Crime Stoppers.
