Appeal for witnesses following West Melbourne hit-run

Police are appealing for witnesses after a hit-run which left a cyclist with life-threatening injuries in West Melbourne this morning, Victoria Police say.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Dryburgh Street and Dynon Road about 12.50am following reports a car had hit a cyclist.

After colliding with the cyclist, the 4WD then drove off from the scene.

The cyclist, 18-year-old Cloverlea man Ben Tyrrell, who had travelled for

Melbourne for work, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Investigators believe the vehicle is a silver 2012 to 2015 model Jeep Compass SUV.

The vehicle may have damage to the front left fog light and head light.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
