Appeal for witnesses over assault at Sydney licensed premises, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was knocked unconscious at a licensed premises in Sydney on Thursday night, NSW Police say.

About 6.30pm (Thursday 16 November 2017), emergency services were called to a hotel on the corner of Pitt and Bathurst streets following reports a man had been assaulted.

On arrival, officers attached to Sydney City Local Area Command found a 19-year-old man unconscious.

Police have been told he was punched in the back of the head by a man. He was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers are investigating whether the assault is linked to an alleged brawl outside the licensed premises earlier in the night.

Four men have been charged with affray in relation to that incident. The men – aged 36, 33, 22 and 23 – were granted conditional bail and are due to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 14 December 2017.

Anyone who witnessed the assault is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
