Appeal for witnesses – traffic crash in Samford, QLD

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit investigating a traffic crash that occurred near Samford Village earlier this morning are appealing for witnesses, Queensland Police say.

At 9am a three-vehicle crash occurred on Samford Road between Bygotts Road and Havelock Court.

The initial two vehicle collision occurred between eastbound and westbound vehicles travelling on Samford Road, with one of the one vehicles becoming wedged down an embankment and the other flipping on to its roof.

Both drivers, and sole occupants of their vehicles, were trapped for a period of time before being transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

An 88-year-old man from The Gap sustained minor injuries and a 42-year-old woman from Draper sustained serious injuries.

A third vehicle, travelling behind one of the cars, was involved in the accident, however the driver, a 57-year-old Ferny Hills man was not injured.

Police are appealing to any members of the public who may have witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage of the incident to contact police.
