Appeal to find woman's attacker in Wyong

Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man who sexually assaulted a woman in a home in Wyong earlier this week, NSW Police say.

Detectives from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command are being assisted by State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad, as they investigate the attack which occurred about 8.30pm on Wednesday (19 July 2017).

They have been told a 24-year-old woman was assaulted, then sexually assaulted, by a man who broke into her home in Pollock Avenue, Wyong.

The woman has been treated in hospital.

An extensive canvass of the area was conducted; however, the man has not been found.

Police have a description of a man they believe can assist with their investigation. He is described as being aged about 30, with a tanned completion. At the time he was wearing a hooded jumper and pants.

Investigators are concerned that while this may have been an opportunistic attack, police remind local families to be extra mindful of their home safety and keep doors and windows secured even when they’re at home.

Police are appealing for information in regards to the matter and ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
