Appointment Of Australian War Memorial Council Members

On Friday 7 November, the Minister for Veteran's Affairs the Hon Matt Keogh MP announced the appointment of three members, and reappointment of two members to the Australian War Memorial Council.

We welcome Mr Peter Tinley AM, Ms Lesley Alway and Major General Wade Stothart AO DSC CSC (Retd) to the Memorial Council and look forward to their contribution to the Memorial's important mission of leading the nation's remembrance and understanding of Australia's wartime experience.

The Minister also announced the reappointments of The Hon Kim Beazley AC and Wing Commander (Retd) Ms Sharon Bown AM.

Mr Dan Keighran VC, The Hon Tony Abbott AC, and Major General (Ret'd) Greg Melick AO RFD FANZCN KC are gratefully acknowledged for their dedicated service on the Council.

Council Chair, Kim Beazley AC, welcomes the insight of the incoming members.

"We thank Minster Keogh for these inspired appointments to the Memorial's Council. Peter, Lesley and Wade bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise that will guide the Memorial in continuing to fulfil its duty to all Australians."

Director of the Australian War Memorial, Matt Anderson PSM, said the new and renewed appointments will support the Council in governing the Memorial into the future.

The Australian War Memorial Council is responsible for governing the Memorial's affairs and policies, including the major expansion project which will see over 6,500m2 of new spaces open to the public in 2026.
