Appointment of new Assistant Commissioner, South Australia

The South Australia Police Commissioner Grant Stevens has announced the appointment of a new Assistant Commissioner.

The appointment of Ian Parrott, who joined the SA Police in 1987 and currently holds the rank of Superintendent, was announced on Friday.

"Ian is an experienced senior manager and leader with a strong outcome focus," the Commissioner said.

"I welcome him to his new role and have no doubt he will provide exceptional service to the South Australia Police and the wider community. "

In announcing the appointment Commissioner Stevens noted Superintendent Parrott has management, leadership and command experience across a diverse range of SAPOL services including Metropolitan Operations, State Operations, Security and Emergency Management and Human Resources.

Most recently he has managed SAPOL's Communications Group and represented SAPOL and South Australia on State and National committees. His previous postings include Regional Police Commander for the Riverland and then Murray Mallee Local Service Areas, Officer in Charge of the Human Resource Management Branch, Metropolitan Local Service Area Commander for South Coast and as the Officer in Charge of the Combined Operations Group.

His appointment will take effect on 25 November.

He will be SAPOL's seventh Assistant Commissioner, forming part of the key leadership team who support the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, Linda Williams.
