I congratulate Mr Tony Cook PSM on his appointment as Secretary of the Department of Education.
I am excited that the Department of Education will continue to be led by a teacher.
On top of that, Mr Cook brings enormous experience and trusted relationships across the early education, schools and higher education sectors.
Mr Cook is an outstanding person and I’m very happy that he has been chosen to lead the department as we work to build a better and fairer education system.
Mr Cook will take the reins from an extraordinary public servant in Dr Michele Bruniges AM.
When Dr Bruniges retires at the start of April, she will have dedicated more than 40 years to education as a teacher and policy maker. She will go with my gratitude and the respect of all the Ministers she has worked with over her distinguished career.
