The Andrews Labor Government has announced the appointment of senior public sector executive Louise Glanville as Managing Director of Victoria Legal Aid, the first woman to head the organisation.
Ms Glanville has almost two decades’ experience working in senior leadership roles for the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments.
Since mid-2017, she has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation, providing advice to government and developing initiatives to prevent gambling harm to the Victorian community.
She served as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Disability Insurance Agency from 2014–17, where she helped lead the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
From 2011–14, Ms Glanville held several roles in the Attorney-General’s Department of the Australian Government, including First Assistant Secretary in the Access to Justice, and Strategy and Delivery divisions.
Before moving to Canberra, Ms Glanville held a range of senior positions in the Victorian Public Service, including Deputy Secretary of the Victorian Department of Justice’s former Legal and Equity Group from 2008–11, and Principal Legal and Social Policy Adviser to the Deputy Premier and Attorney-General from 2007–08.
Ms Glanville is a member of the Australian Law Reform Commission’s Family Law System Advisory Committee. She also chairs the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority Board.
She holds a Master of Arts (Research) from Victoria University, a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University, a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Melbourne, and a Graduate Certificate in Health Law from La Trobe University.
Ms Glanville will commence her role at Victoria Legal Aid in mid-October. She replaces outgoing Managing Director Bevan Warner, whose term finished in August after a decade in the role.
