Police are appealing for witnesses following an act of criminal damage at Alexandra Gardens in Ararat yesterday, Victoria Police say.
It is believed an unknown offender/s moved a green wheelie bin onto the metal platform of a children’s playground near Vincent Street and set it alight just after midnight on 6 June.
They also vandalised a shade sail with graffiti before ripping it from the playground supports, leaving a large damage bill.
Police patrolling the gardens noticed the small fire in the playground and alerted CFA crews, who extinguished it.
Investigators have released images of the shade sail in the hope someone may recognise the tags.
