Detectives from Argos have charged a 48-year-old man with child sex offences following an investigation into the possession and distribution of child exploitation material.
Investigators from Argos, with assistance from the AFP Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET), executed two search warrants in Fortitude Valley and Fitzgibbon yesterday and located a large number of mobile phones, computers and storage devices.
It will be alleged that the man was found in possession of child exploitation material depicting the sexual abuse of children and was also active in a number of online child abuse networks.
The 48-year-old Fortitude Valley man was charged with three counts of use carriage service to distribute child abuse material, two counts each of possessing child exploitation material, administering child exploitation material website, possessing child abuse material obtained using a carriage service, use carriage service to access child abuse material and one count each of use carriage service to make available child abuse material, use carriage service to groom persons 16 years of age and encouraging offence against division 272.
He is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
