Arkansas plane crash leaves one dead, one injured

One person died and another was wounded when a single-engine plane crashed in the US state of Arkansas, police said.

The crash occurred in the west of Jefferson County on Wednesday evening, Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said as cited by KATV.

The dead person was the pilot, according to fire department officials cited by the Arkansas TV channel. The passenger received leg injuries.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plans to conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash, KATV said.
