Armed robberies, Sunshine Coast

Police are investigating a string of armed robberies involving a firearm on the Sunshine Coast early this morning, Queensland Police say.

Just after 1.30am a man fired a shotgun into the entrance of a Rawson Street tavern at Caloundra West, gaining access to the premises.

The person tried to break into an ATM inside the tavern, however, was unsuccessful and left the address empty-handed. No one was inside the premises at the time.

Around 1.45am a man used a shotgun to hold up a service station on Steve Irwin Way at Glenview.

The male employee complied with his demands for cash and the man fled the scene.

A third offence involving a firearm was at a fast food outlet on the Bruce Highway at Glass House Mountains around 2am.

During the incident, a man produced the shotgun at a drive-through window and made threats towards the attendant to handover money from the till.

The staff member complied and provided a sum of cash to the man.

No one was injured in any of the incidents.

Detectives believe all three offences are linked with a dark green/grey Holden Commodore (pictured in CCTV) with bumper bar damage sighted at each incident.

The man involved is described as being about 175cm tall with a slim build and distinctive tattoos on both hands.

He was wearing a tan vest, dark hooded jumper, blue jeans, red ‘Nike’ cap and had a black bandana covering his face.

Investigations are continuing.
