Armed robbery and deprivation of liberty charges in Inala, QLD

Detectives have charged a 17-year-old man following investigations into an alleged armed robbery in Inala this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged at around 5.05pm a man armed with a knife entered the vehicle of a 23-year-woman while she was in a carpark on Corsair Avenue, demanding that she drive away.

The woman drove out of the carpark before stopping in nearby Brolga Street where she fled the vehicle.

Police were alerted with the vehicle being intercepted by officers on Government Road, Richlands at around 5.20pm. The male driver, and a teenage female passenger, were taken into custody without incident.

A 17-year-old Harristown man has been charged with several offences including one count each of armed robbery, deprivation of liberty, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and demanding property with the intent to steal.

He has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court tomorrow, December 19.

The 15-year-old girl was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The 23-year-old Inala woman was not physically injured.
