Far North police continue to target high risk priority domestic and family violence offenders with Cairns detectives charging a 34-year-old man yesterday.
Police will allege the man forced entry to a unit in Manoora around 6.30pm on Sunday (March 14), before threatening a woman and demanding car keys.
Police allege the man also contravened a current domestic family violence order on four separate occasions between March 12 and 14.
Around 4pm yesterday police attended a property in Yangoora Street, White Rock, to speak with the man. It is alleged he attempted to run from the rear of the property before he was taken into custody.
The man was charged with one count each of armed robbery using domestic violence, burglary and commit domestic violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle using domestic violence, unlicensed driving, obstruct police and four counts of contravention of a domestic violence order.
Far Northern District Officer Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Hodgman said violence in any form is never acceptable and will not be tolerated.
"Domestic and family violence, primarily perpetrated against women and children, is abhorrent and has devasting and often lifelong impacts on victims and families.
"Officers across the Far North are committed to empowering victims to come forward, to supporting and protecting them and importantly, investigating and charging offenders."
The man was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court.
