Armed robbery appeal at Newtown

Detectives from Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch are seeking public assistance following the armed robbery of a Newtown business on Sunday, March 19.

Initial investigations indicate shortly after 3.30am, a stolen silver Subaru station wagon attended the side door of a business along Anzac Avenue.

One male exited the passenger side and entered the business, where he threatened a staff member with a long knife before demanding cash.

The female attendant complied and was not physically injured in the incident.

The man left the scene in the waiting vehicle, which was being driven by a second person.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision of the vehicle or its occupants to come forward.

The vehicle is described as a silver 2012 Subaru Outback station wagon with the Queensland registration 8R0ND4, although the plates may have been removed since the incident.

The male is described as approximately 185cm tall with a slim build and was wearing dark track pants and a hoody, with his face obscured.

The Subaru was reported stolen from a Rangeville address on March 18.

Investigations are continuing.
