Armed robbery charge during Operation Drink Drive 2, NSW

A man will face court today on armed robbery charges after being arrested by police during Operation Drink Drive 2, NSW Police say.

As part of the Enhanced Enforcement Program, police will target alcohol-impaired motorists during ‘Operation Drink Drive 2’ – which started at 0001hrs Friday 2 November and ends at 2359hrs on Sunday 4 November.

Around 11.20pm yesterday a man entered a service station on Captain Cook Drive at Caringbah. He demanded cigarettes from the attendant who refused.

The man has picked up a screwdriver and pair of scissors, threatening the attendant

After getting a drink from a nearby fridge, the man has left the store with a packet of cigarettes.

The attendant was able to raise the alarm.

Officers from Central Metropolitan Region Highway Patrol arrested a 36-year-old man nearby.

He was charged with robbery with an offensive weapon and refused bail.

The 36-year-old will appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 3 November 2018).
