Armed robbery charge in Southport, QLD

A man has been charged following the attempted robbery of a pharmacy in Southpoort overnight, Queensland Police say.

At 8.20pm, a man entered a pharmacy on Marine Parade and it will be alleged that he went behind the counter and claimed to have a firearm.

It is further alleged that the man then made threats to use the firearm and started filling a bag with medication.

Two men who were in the store restrained the man and police arrived on scene shortly after and took him into custody.

One of the men restraining the man suffered a broken knuckle as a result of the incident.

A 47-year-old Burleigh Waters man has been charged with one count of armed robbery.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on December 11.
