Police are investigating an armed robbery at a St Kilda East milk bar this morning, Victoria Police say.
It is believed a silver Mercedes Viano van with tape over the registration plates pulled up outside the Alexandra Street business just before 9am.
A driver stayed in the vehicle while the passenger got out and entered the store armed with a firearm.
He confronted the male staff member and made demands before leaving with cigarettes and cash.
No shots were fired during the incident and no one was injured.
The man that entered the store is described as approximately 185cm tall, solid build with an Australian accent.
He was wearing a grey hooded top and a bandana covering his face.
A witness managed to take a photo of the vehicle, alleged to have been used during the incident, as it was leaving the scene.
Investigators have also released a still image of the alleged offender.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
