Armed robbery - Wollongong Region, NSW

An investigation is underway following the armed robbery of a premises in Thirroul today, NSW Police say.

Just before midday (Friday 8 June 2018), a man, believed to be armed with a firearm, entered a bank and threatened staff while demanding money.

A sum of cash was handed to the man and he ran from the bank. He was seen getting into a vehicle that was parked outside.

Officers from Wollongong Police District responded, with the assistance of the Dog Unit and PolAir.

A search for the man is now underway.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
