In the early hours of Sunday 5 June 2022 a 24 year old male from South Launceston was assaulted within the vicinity of the Brisbane Street Avenue area, in the Launceston CBD. The male received two stab wounds in the incident and personal property was stolen. The male was transported to Launceston General Hospital by Ambulance Tasmania and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Later that day a 20 year male from Newnham was arrested and charged with aggravated armed robbery and wounding.
Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnesses an altercation between two possible three males in the Brisbane Street, Avenue area. Anyone witnessing any such incident are asked to call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
